DONATIONS
YOUR donations count!
People working.
Lives Improved.
The Donated Goods Program supports Goodwill's mission by providing a training ground for individuals who may not be able to obtain employment otherwise. The proceeds from
sales of donated goods provide a paycheck for these workers.
Donations are collected through the retail stores, in-home pickups, the attended donation centers, and annual collection drives. 85% of our revenues are funneled directly back into employment and training programs for our clients, unlike some other organizations that solicit donations in the name of a charity. As little as 5% of the money generated from those donations may actually go to the charity they represent. Goodwill ranks among top charities that make your donation(s) go further.
What Happens to YOUR Donations?
Every time you donate re-saleable used clothing, household goods and other items to Goodwill Industries of Southwest Oklahoma & North Texas, you change a person’s life by giving him or her a chance to work. Graduates of Goodwill job training go to work and come to know the thrill of personal empowerment—the joy that comes from earning a paycheck.
With Goodwill’s help, local communities prosper. People who once relied on government assistance become taxpayers themselves and contribute to the economic vitality of their communities.
Your donation plays a pivotal role in our ability to fulfill Goodwill's mission. In short, your donations help people discover the power of work.
Here are some of our programs YOUR Donations help provide:
Career Development Center provides vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities as well as those with disadvantaging condition.
Adult Day Services is a program designed to meet the needs of functionally impaired adults.
Youth Center for Youth with Special Needs is a program that provides year round school age services for youth with special needs.
Voucher Program: organizations donate to Goodwill in exchange for store vouchers that can be redeemed by individuals in need. (see more information below)
Document Destruction (Shredding): Safe and secure Document shredding for your personal or business needs.
VITA Tax Services: IRS Certified volunteers prepare income taxes for free during tax season, Jan 18-April 15. Currently we are providing this service at our Lawton I and Lawton II stores.
HOW THE VOUCHER PROGRAM WORKS:
Your non-profit organization (Civic groups, Churches, Schools, etc.) makes a donation in two ways to receive vouchers.
· Donate clothes/goods and monetary amount is placed on these donations and vouchers are issued in $10.00 increments to your organization.
· Donate money. Your dollars are returned to you in vouchers, matching dollar for dollar. You now are able to distribute these vouchers to those that are in need. Recipients of the vouchers have a broad selection of merchandise to choose from and are able to shop with anonymity at their convenience.
